SUPINFO International University (map)
HTML forms have been the bane of web developers for years. Not anymore!
With HTML5 you may learn to love forms. Imagine a day when you can validate a form without any JavaScript. Date pickers, place holder text, pattern matching, required fields, auto focus, error handling, all without JavaScript? That day is not as far off as you think. In this session we'll discuss new to HTML5 form input types and attributes. We can't promise that you'll love creating web forms, but you will gain a new, exciting appreciation.
We'll learn all about creating dynamic web forms with form validation without the use of javascript.
Sneak peak into the presentation...
Browsers are beginning to support HTML5 web forms. In this session we'll learn how to implement them.
More about Estelle Weyl
Estelle Weyl started her professional life in architecture, then managed teen health programs. In 2000, she took the natural step of becoming a web standardista. While running her own web development business, she has consulted and worked for a few companies not her own, such as startups TopSpin and Uptake.com and larger players including Kodakgallery and Yahoo! Estelle shares esoteric tidbits learned while programming CSS, JavaScript and XHTML in her blog at http://evotech.net/bl... and provides detailed grids of CSS3 and HTML5 browser support in her blog at http://www.standardis.... She is the author of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript for WebKit. While not coding, she works in construction, de-hippifying her 1960's throwback abode.
Special thanks to Kaazing for providing pizza and drinks for the event!
See you at the Meetup!
Yes, there is plenty of free street parking around this location. You may have to part a few blocks from SUPINFO, but it usually takes less than 5 minutes to find a spot (especially around Hyde and Bay)
how long is Estelle's presentation tonight? What time will it be over?
Anyone want to share taxi from caltrain or powell street bart? I'm coming from redwood city.

Good public transit option: BART to Embarcadero, then catch the Muni F (above-ground streetcar), all the way to the end of the line, gets within 2 blocks of this location.

It's been nearly a year since the presentation, and browsers have improved support. I've updated the slide deck at http://www.standardista.com/forms/
to reflect browser and specification changes.
would love to go but will be cramming a project at this time :(
